Being on time is a mark of professionalism. When I say on time I mean an hour or at least 30 minutes ahead the time scheduled for a meeting or whatever activity to start. Practicing punctuality starts even during school time. Background check on "on-time" people have noted this as a note that they are courteous, mature and are very respectful.
whether it may be a meeting, work, a job interview or a date, being on time can be hard especially met either with traffic for city people or those that are living on provinces (especially places where transportation is limited not just in numbers but also in horse power). It takes more than just a ring on the alarm clock or a message reminder that you have an appointment to catch. Punctuality means practice and practice means getting disciplined. For those who are applying, being an early bird is a part of your presentation that even serves as an Employment Verification (you are a hard worker and has learned about the essence of being on time or ahead of time from your previous work).
For those who wish to practice this, here are ways to develop the ability to be early and on time.
1. Adjust the time on your watch. If you always think that you're already late by ten minutes, adjust the time so that you'll be thinking that it's later than late. However there are those who cheat especially if they now how many minutes advanced their clocks are set. Be sure to not to be tempted into cheating and learn to adjust with the time you set your watch with.
2. Note schedules on one calendar. keeping track of what your plans are or what will be going on requires just one planner unlike some who keep multiple calendars (personal, office, or for family). This will also avoid double scheduling and close scheduling. It will also avoid stress and keep you checking time for your family.
3. Don’t leave the little things behind. Include such things like the preparation you have to make or the travel time before going to your destination in your time table. we often skip such that agendas thinking that they don't matter however not noting the time we spent for such may even prolong our use of time for such matters and end up late in our appointments. It pays to also remember the in-betweens....
4. Reward yourself. There are those who tend to go early in exchange for something they really like. Take for example waiting for the time in the new cafe just across the store where you work.
5. Ask for a friend to help. Being reminded constantly by someone regarding keeping up to our schedules also pays off. For those who are going to their job interviews it also pays to be helped by a friend in terms of preparing just for the sake of being early. Don’t take it too personal if a friend seems to be dictating what you should do. At times this helps especially in disciplining ourselves to learn more on handling time tables.
These are but steps on how to work out being punctual. Take note of the fact that such action can lead to greater heights. It can earn good recommendation from references that means great record for your Employment Verification. It gives you more time to breath and more time to ignite composure and enthusiasm for work.
