Everyone knows college can be expensive. With tuition and housing costs constantly rising, the last thing any student wants to deal with is the high cost of textbooks. Textbooks can cost students hundreds of dollars each semester. Money that could be slashed in half if these books were available to students through renting.

The cost of textbooks is a sore subject for many students. Each semester, strapped for cash students are required to spend a huge chunk of change on books for their classes. Not only do these books cost an arm and a leg, but many times, there are multiple required reading materials and even suggested items for each class. It is possible to spend a couple hundred dollars on reading material for a single class. The majority of the time, this money is completely wasted. Selling textbooks back is a great idea in theory. Except for the fact that students usually get paid 20% of what they originally paid. Due to changing course work each semester, it is not uncommon for books to not even be accepted back at all. Over the course of four years, students can lose thousands of dollars on purchasing textbooks. Luckily, there is another option set up to help students save some money, renting textbooks. Thanks to textbook rental, students can enjoy cheap textbooks throughout their college experience.

The concept is just as easy as it sounds. Renting a textbook for your course helps to lift part of the financial burden that many college students feel. Paying a fraction of the cost for your textbooks is obviously a great incentive to go this route. Since rentals are set up to provide cheap textbooks to multiple students, these books are used over and over again. Only books in the best condition are sent out to students, and refunds are offered for books that may be received that are not up to acceptable standards. Once the student is finished with the book, they simply return it, allowing another student to benefit the following semester.

The process for renting textbooks is so simple that most students are choosing this route. If for some reason a student chooses to keep a book, they are allowed to purchase it. Having that option is a great change from being forced to pay hundreds of dollars on a book that may never be used again.
